Saracen
Saracen used to make good bikes, went through a fair dip in quality and performance, but are back up there as a valid choice.
A Kona Cinder Cone would have been my first MTB if Evans had agreed a discount on a 1987 model year bike (it was 1988). As it was they would budge on the price, so I ended up with a killer deal on a Saracen KiliPro, only to find that Evans reduced their Kona prices two weeks later anyway - but I’m really glad to have the Saracen, it does everything that I need it to do exceptionally well.
